Glee beauty, Lea Michele has taken time away from her acting career to pursue a different-but not that different-endeavor. The 27-year-old debuts single, “Canonball” in a beautifully constructed music video.

“Cannonball” was directed by Robert Hales. The gorgeously styled video is thanks Estee Stanley.

The video begins in a dark, dismal setting that comes off as lost and lonely. The camera pans to a vulnerable-looking Michele sitting, looking down. Immediately viewers are thrown into an experience that transforms into a bright, hopeful video. The sun slowly starts to peek into the room coinciding with a faster beat throughout the song.

Lea Michele didn’t write the song, but you can tell from her performance in the music video her heart is completely in it. The single was written for the Glee veteran by Sia and Benny Blasco. The album Louder is the very first solo album for Michele. The 11-track album is scheduled for release on February 28.

Glee is currently in its fifth season and returns on February 25th.
