Hilary Duff and her husband Mike Comrie have called it quits after only three years of marriage.
“Hilary Duff and husband Mike Comrie have mutually decided to an amicable separation,” Duff’s rep said in a statement. “They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other’s lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time.”
Duff, 26, and Comrie, 33, married in 2010, and welcomed their only child Luca Cruz Comrie in March 2012. “We are overjoyed,” Duff tweeted at the time. “He is surrounded by so much love!! Mom and baby are both doing extremely well.”
A source close to Duff reveals that there was no major incident leading to the separation.
“There was no major incident – no big event between the two of them,” the source said. “They really did drift apart. They have put effort and thought into this decision for a long time. They tried couples therapy, but in the end, they realized at this time, they work better as friends. And they really are great friends.”
