Netflix Germany And France Expansions Looking More Likely

As reported last month, it’s looking like Netflix may launch in France in Germany next.

Reuters said at the time that the company had been talking to officials in both countries, seeking information on laws that could affect its operations.

Now, more evidence that Netflix is targeting these markets has surfaced. Netflix has an open position for Marketing & PR Management for new markets, which requires the candidate to speak and write English, but noting that “Dutch, the Nordic languages, German and French are a plus.” Emphasis added.

Netflix has already launched in the Nordics, the UK and Ireland, and most recently in the Netherlands in September.

As Janko Roettgers at Giga Om, who first reported on the job posting, points out, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings commented last fall that the company would be looking at some larger market expansions in 2014, and the company’s earnings report is due out next week, when we could see an announcement about such expansion.

Beyond expanding the availability of Netflix itself, more markets potentially means more region-specific original content.
