It’s true and it’s been confirmed! Actress-model Amber Heard and veteran actor Johnny Depp are officially engaged.
According to US Weekly, when Heard was spotted making a frivolous effort to conceal the bodacious rock earlier this week, fans immediately began to speculate just how serious the level of commitment was between she and the Pirate of the Caribbean.
But, fans weren’t the only ones with raised eyebrows, the media also went into a frenzy searching for an answer to the burning question. Now, the publication has confirmed from an inside mutual acquaintance of the actors that the two are ‘planning to marry’.
“The proposal happened a while ago,” one insider tells US Weekly. “She just didn’t wear the ring.”
However, Celebuzz went a little further to dig for the exclusive details of the proposal, and the information is quite interesting. The source revealed that the 50-year-old actor actually proposed to Heard, 27, last month.
While most women would have leaped at the opportunity to accept a proposal from Depp, Heard actually needed time to gather her thoughts.
“It happened on Christmas Eve,” a source close to the family told Celebuzz. “Amber really took her time to make up her mind.” The Pineapple Express actress, who was previously involved in a four-year relationship photographer Tasya van Ree, obviously needed make sure the time was right for such a life-altering change. It was also revealed that this wasn’t the first time the Dark Shadows actor has attempted to put a ring on it.
“She turned him down before,” added the source, “before she said yes. So she waited and was thinking about it for a long time.” But, nevertheless, she’s ultimately said yes.
On Saturday, Jan. 11, the night before the Golden Globe Awards, the couple sealed the deal with their red carpet debut as an official couple. The stunning duo made their first public appearance together at the Art of Elusium gala in Los Angeles.
Depp and Heard first met on the set of The Rum Diary, which they starred in together. The couple will also reunite onscreen again later this year film adaptation of the 1989 crime thriller novel London Fields.
