Are men becoming less manly?

That’s what Nick Adams told Elisabeth Hasselbeck, when they sat down for an interview to discuss his new book “American Boomerang” on the show “Fox and Friends.” According to Adams, American men are looked down upon if they still posses some of the same manly traits of yesterday’s man, and not only is it unfortunate, he says, it’s downright harmful to society.

“American men are of course very susceptible to it,” he said, referring to the role of men being diminished in the home and in society. He believes the overall importance of men as leaders have been considerably downsized. “It’s really important particularly in America given the leadership role that America has in the world that American men be allowed to be men.”

In addition, the 29-year old Australian writer said traditional male behaviors have now been vilified and he points to shooting guns as an example, although some would say there is no clear definition of what a real man is. “All aspects of male culture have been called into question, whether it’s gathering around on a Sunday afternoon to watch football with a few friends, whether it is going to the range and shooting some guns, whether it’s just being a male, has now been really made suspect,” he said.

During the interview, Hasselbeck asked Adams if he believed the so called male bashing was due to the rise of American feminism, and she even asked if he thought feminism hurt our national security?

“Absolutely, without a doubt,” he said. “I think it has wide-ranging implications. Weeps an wussies deliver mediocrity. And men win. And what America’s always been about is winning. So I think it’s pivotal to the health of the country.”

And where is all this backlash towards men coming from? From all over, said Adams, and he states the blame should be shared equally. “We see it coming from all levels of society,” he said. “We see it coming from the government; we see it coming from the feminists.”
