San Diego authorities recently discovered a grisly twist in a case that has had them stumped for weeks, but they are no closer to finding answers than before.
On December 23, 24-year old Gianni Belvedere, his fiancée Ilona Flint, and his 22-year old brother Salvatore visited a shopping mall in San Diego. The following morning, Flint and Salvatore were found near a Christmas tree lot with gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, both perished, but Flint managed to call 911 before she died, and those recordings have been released. According to the call, a suspect on the scene may have left in a 2008/2011 dark gray Honda Civic four-door. Gianni Belvedere disappeared without a trace.
On Friday, a badly decomposed body was found in the trunk of a green Toyota Camry XLE parked near a fast-food restaurant about 100 miles away in Riverside; the car has been identified as belonging to Belvedere. Although the body hasn’t been identified yet, authorities say an autopsy is underway and the coroner has said that the victim was a male, about age 24.
Belvedere’s family has put up a $10,000 reward for anyone with information about the murders in collaboration with Crime Stoppers. Call (888) 580-8477 or contact the agency online at sdcrimestoppers.com.
