Resident Evil 4 may be one of the most ported games of all time with versions even appearing on the PS3 and Xbox 360, but not every port was well made. In fact, the PC port released in 2007 was derided by fans as being abysmal and nigh unplayable. Player-made mods have made things better since, but Capcom is finally getting around to releasing a proper PC in 2014.
Capcom announced this morning that Resident Evil 4 is getting the PC port it deserves with what it calls the Ultimate HD Edition. This version of Resident Evil 4 will be exclusive to Steam and contain a number of improvements exclusive to the PC version. These improvements include better textures, a consistent 60FPS framerate and full Steam support.
The game is now available to pre-order on Steam. For those who do, you’ll get an 80-page digital archive and the entire 62-track original soundtrack.
Here’s a trailer that shows the PC version in action:
The pre-order page is not live on Steam just yet, but it will cost $19.99 when it does.
UPDATE: The Steam page is now live.
