Comedy Central’s resident satirical republican will make his Superbowl ad debut next Sunday when he stars in Wonderful Pistachio’s new 30 second spot. The ad will kick off a new year-long partnership between Colbert and Wonderful Pistachios, under the campaign slogan “Get Crackin’, America.” Wonderful Pistachios’ in-house creative team will collaborate with Colbert to create several TV spots throughout 2014 that highlight the “Get Crackin'” catch-phrase. The collaboration will also be supported by in-store promotion and social media campaigns throughout the US and Canada.

“Since I was a child, I’ve dreamed of working with America’s premier nut company,” Colbert said. “The fact that it turns out to be the good folks at Wonderful Pistachios is just the pistachio on top of the ice cream sundae.”

The famous Pistachio company is excited about what the new partnership can bring to their brand. “Last year’s Super Bowl spot featuring PSY drove significant brand awareness and incredible buzz among consumers,” said Marc Seguin, VP of marketing for Wonderful Pistachios. “This year, we wanted to extend that enthusiasm beyond Super Bowl with talent that resonates with our core consumer target over the full year. Mr. Colbert is the perfect fit for our brand and for this campaign.” In an official press release, Wonderful Pistachios also added that, “utilizing his unique persona and extraordinary platform, Colbert has impacted the cultural discourse in profound ways.”

Colbert obviously isn’t the only celebrity we’ll see featured in ads during Sunday’s game (which reportedly, Fox charged $4 million for every 30-second ad). This year’s Bud Light ad will star Arnold Schwarzenegger, Don Cheadle, and Reggie Watts. Scarlett Johansson will be the face of SodaStream, David Beckham will be representing H&M, and Full House alums John Stamos, Dave Coulier, and Bob Saget will reunite for a Dannon yogurt commercial.

You can watch all the celebrity-ad goodness, along with a bit of football between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos, on February 2nd. The big game is taking place at the Metlife stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey; it’s also the first outdoor, cold-weather Super Bowl.
