This Sunday, the Boeing commercial airplane company will obviously be cheering for its hometown football team, the Seahawks.

The team will be going against the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII this weekend during yet another “football holiday.”

In honor of the team, Boeing revealed its Seahawks-themed 747 airplane this week, which made its first flight on Thursday through Seattle, Wash.

Despite the controversial safety procedures reported in the news lately, the company has always been a major supporter.  By branding a 747-8 with a touch of Seahawks’ personality, Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and CEO Ray Conner wanted to show just how much pride they have for the team.

“We’re honored that we could join together two Northwest icons, the Seahawks and the 747, for this special salute from the entire Boeing team,” he told Traveler Today.(image)

The theme of the plane includes: the team’s name, logo, colors and the number “12” located on the tail of the plane. Written on the front of the airplane enthusiastically reads, of course, “Spirit of 12s. Go Hawks!”

Aside from the lovely design of Sehawks’ 747, it appears that the new mascot flying in the air has some similarities to the team itself.

According to Traveler Today:

“The Boeing 747-8 and the Seahawks have a lot in common. Quarterback Russell Wilson’s longest pass this season was 80 yards or 240 feet. The 747-8 fuselage measures close to that at 243.5 ft. Wilson also threw for 3,357 yards (10,071 ft.) this season, which is close to the measure of the 10,650 ft runway that the 747-8 takes off from. The 747-8 can’t amount to the cheers of Seahawks fans though. Seahawks fans’ Guinness World Record for crowd noise is approximately 38 times louder than the 747-8 at departure.”

Well, isn’t that ironic.

Nevertheless, Boeing says that the plane is only used for test-runs. However, it looks like Seattle-residents may just see this plane flying around every now and then during the game or maybe following a possible victory?
