For some people, seeing others cry is a direct trigger to the waterworks. It’s like seeing someone throw up and then feeling your gorge rise. Only much sweeter.
Mark Blitch recently posted a video to YouTube of his 4-year old son Jackson in the car, crying over a sad song, and it’s gone viral with the power to make total strangers tear up. It’s the kind of thing adults do all the time, especially in the wake of a breakup or when a song reminds us of someone who isn’t in our lives anymore. Music has the power to alter us, and little Jackson proves that you don’t have to be a grown-up to feel grown-up things.
When his dad asked if he was okay to keep listening to “Say Something” by A Great Big World, Jackson said he was and gave a thumbs up, but continued to cry. Check out the video and be moved.
This isn’t the first viral video to show a child getting emotional over a song; 10-month old Mary Lynne Leroux was moved to tears when her mom began singing “My Heart Can’t Tell You No” and the video promptly blew up on the web.
