Pro football player Terrell Owens has been a long time media darling, but not really for football.
Unless you haven’t noticed, he’s been more known for making TV guest appearances, being at red carpet events and having his own reality show on VH1.
But since he hasn’t played in the NFL since 2010, and he’s currently a free agent, he hasn’t been in the limelight as much, so in retrospect it looked like his off-the-field-popularity had everything to do with his on-the-field-play, and not much else.
However, Owens is back in the news again, because his wife Rachel Snider said she wants a divorce, which isn’t anything out of the ordinary, but they’ve only been married for two weeks.
According to TMZ, Snider said she really loved Owens and had sincere intentions to be with him, but she later found out that he married her for a different reason. Apparently, Owens wanted to tie the knot so he would be approved for a $2 million mortgage loan.
“I felt in love, and now I feel betrayed and heartbroken,” said Snider. In addition, she said that she had to keep her relationship with Owens under wraps for quite some time, and because she went along with that, she felt even more jilted after finding out what he was trying to do.
“I really valued his love and friendship for 5 years,” she said. “Out of the love in my heart, I tried to help him. We had a secret relationship for 5 years and I married him for love.”
And Snider isn’t the only person who Owens has angered, his former best friends and business partners, Monique Jackson and Kita Williams have severed their relationship with him too. Jackson and Williams both appeared with Owens on his reality series “The T.O. Show.”
“He’s mad at everybody,” said Williams, when asked why her and Owens weren’t friends or business partners anymore. “We were friends first. People forget that. We were friends for 12 years. Terrell is the only client we had where we had a friendship first…..Terrell is typically known for running his mouth, he says things off the cuff, he’s mad at the world.”
In an interview with GQ magazine, Owens accused Jackson and Williams of stealing from him.
