Rising Star Cristin Milioti keeps adding unique, versatile, and funny characters to her resume of acting credits. After her Tony nominated turn in Once on Broadway, she landed the role of “the mother” on How I Met Your Mother. Now she prepares to play a leading role in an upcoming NBC pilot produced by Rashida Jones. The pilot, called A to Z, follows couple Andrew and Zelda from their first meeting to their breakup. Milioti stars as Zelda, the more realistic one in the relationship, who toes the line between serious and funny. She is a lawyer at a small, public-advocacy law firm. Zelda doesn’t believe in destiny. According to her, everyone controls their own fate. She loves adulthood, and doesn’t understand why anyone over 20 likes animated films and ice cream sundaes.
Deadline describes A To Z as “a whimsical romantic comedy set in the world of an online dating company that details the ‘A to Z’s’ of a relationship — from meeting to break-up. The ensemble navigates the complicated world of modern dating and poses the question: Is there such a thing as destiny?” Warner Bros Television will produce the series, and Jones reunites with Celeste and Jesse Forever producer Will McCormack. Jones and McCormack’s production company Le Train Train has multiple shows currently in production for the upcoming pilot season. Another series by Le Train Train is The Revengers, which is about two 20-something estranged friends who reunite after they discover they’re dating the same guy. The pair learns that revenge is sweet and a lucrative business. So they start a company that seeks justice for those wronged.
Milioti proved her abilities to lead a sitcom when How I Met Your Mother’s 200th-episode focused exclusively on the show’s yet-to-be named mother character. The episode was highly praised by fans and critics alike.
Besides How I Met Your Mother and Once, Militoi’s credits include a part in Oscar nominated The Wolf of Wall Street.
