Robin Roberts has signed on to help host ABC’s pre-Oscars red carpet show, Red Carpet Live.
Roberts joins a star-studded cast that includes her Good Morning America co-host Lara Spencer, editorial director of People and Entertainment Weekly Jess Cagle, and model Tyson Beckford.
Roberts and Spencer announced the good news on Good Morning America this morning.
The show will air directly before the Oscars, on March 2 at 4 pm PST.
Roberts and the other co-hosts will be stationed outside the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood and Highland, greeting the celebs and interviewing them as they arrive at the awards show.
Roberts battled and beat breast cancer about five years ago, but has recently fought with another sickness – MDS or myelodysplastic syndrome. Caused by the treatment of her breast cancer, MDS is a blood and bone marrow disease that is also known as preleukemia.
The host underwent a bone marrow transplant, in which her sister Sally Ann was the donor. The host is now healthy and ready to host the pre-Oscar show for the fifth time.
She also recently revealed that she is gay, and in a long-term relationship with a woman.
The supporting cast behind the hosts will include Brad Lachman as producer, Bill Bracken as coordinating producer, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron as executive producers, and Michael Seligman as supervising producer.
