Ronda Rousey once again made history on Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas for the UFC 170 event. The champion clocked in the fastest knockout in women’s UFC history by knocking out Sara McMann just a little over a minute, 66 seconds to be exact, into their fight.

Both Rousey and McMann came out swinging as soon as the women’s bantamweight fight started. Less than a minute into the fight, Rousey was able to push back McMann to the fence and cornered her opponent with her knees. Rousey took the chance to do a judo throw, but McMann was quick to defend the move.

However, Rousey was swift and hit the challenger with her knee followed by an elbow. With a combination of knee and elbow hits, Rousey’s final hit was a knee straight to the liver that finally put McMann down.

Shortly after, Herb Dean jumped in and stopped the fight, causing the excited crowd to boo for the early stoppage. According to McMann, Dean’s stoppage was not early at all. She also said that the liver does not get stronger no matter how hard a fighter trains. Rousey said that they have been studying McMann’s videos and knew that she had the best chance of winning by doing a liver shot.

The women’s main event was preceded by a fight between Daniel Cormier and Patrick Cummins, in which Cormier came out the victor. Cummins was a replacement for Rashad Evans who had injured himself more than a week ago. There was a heated argument between the two when Cummins said he made Cormier cry during training. The latter shoved Cummins during a press conference before the fight. Cormier defeated Cummins in a TKO in the first round, making him win the light heavyweight title.
