Although she’s been working with the Today show for quite some time, NBC just announced that Tamron Hall will officially be part of the team, and she’ll join Natalie Morales, Al Roker, and Willie Geist in the show’s nine o’clock hour.

Don Nash, executive producer of the Today show said Hall is the ideal match for the program, because she’s multi-talented and comes equipped with a lot of know-how and high energy.

Nash also says the show shouldn’t miss a beat because Roker, Morales and Geist share the same type of work ethic and enthusiasm. “We’re really excited to officially welcome Tamron into the Today family,” he said.

“She brings wit, enthusiasm and a keen sensibility to an all-around fantastic team, and I think Tamron, Al, Natalie and Willie will have a lot of fun together hosting the third hour.”

The 43 year old Hall is originally from Luling, Texas and she’s been with NBC in one way or another since 2009. First on MSNBC as a general reporter and then she co-hosted The Big Picture with David Shuster. Before arriving at NBC Hall worked as a news reporter in Chicago.

Sadly, her sister was murdered in 2004, and since then she’s made domestic violence one of her number one causes, and to this day her and her family still don’t have all the details of what happened.

“My sister’s death was ruled a homicide,” she said in a past interview.

“Blunt force trauma to the back of the head. No one was ever charged in her homicide or in her murder and no suspect was named. My sister’s case has led me to focus a lot of my attention on domestic violence. We don’t know what happened in her case, what I do know is that she was found in a swimming pool in the back of her home, face down, and it was ruled a homicide. My journey to speak out on domestic violence was based on conversations that I had with my sister.”
