Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back.
After not being able to participate in the last Terminator movie, Terminator Salvation in 2009 because of his role as the Governor of California, Schwarzenegger is excited to get back into action in the upcoming Terminator: Genesis. The movie is set to begin filming this spring. In case you’re counting, this will be the fifth Terminator movie.
He spoke about the film at the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio. “We start filming in the middle or in the end of April and it will be a four or four-and-a-half month long shoot. We will be filming it in New Orleans with some of it in San Francisco and maybe a little of it in LA but most of it will be done in New Orleans. I’m really looking forward to that because as you know, the last time when they did the Terminator, it was when I was Governor and so I couldn’t be in that movie but now I’m back again and they are very excited about having me in the film… The script is fantastic so I’m really looking forward to this film.”
This will be the first Terminator film for the former Governor in 12 years. If you think that you remember seeing him in Terminator Salvation, it wasn’t the live in flesh Arnold, he was replaced by computer graphics. His last role as Terminator came in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.
Terminator: Genesis is the first part of a planned trilogy. Alan Taylor (Thor) is signed on to direct. The Queen of Dragons herself Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) has been cast to play Sarah Connor. Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) is set to play John Connor. There hasn’t been any news about the nature of the plot.
You can expect to see the film in theaters on July 1, 2015.
