In the wake of all of the glitz and glamour at the Academy Awards last night one actress seems to have stolen the show by shaking up the dress status quo a bit.

Those who are into the whole red carpet fashion thing probably noticed a prevailing theme among this year’s big name actresses. Hollywood heavy hitters such as Kate Hudson, Naomi Watts, and Best Actress winner Cate Blanchett were all seen looking radiant in white designer dresses. The same can’t be said of up-and-comer Anna Kendrick.

Kendrick, who was herself a nominee for Best Supporting Actress for her breakthrough role in the drama “Up in The Air”, rocked a stunning black gown that called back to another well-known actress. In 2012 Angelina Jolie turned heads at the biggest night in movies by wearing a similar gown. Jolie even joked about her famous leg-out pose which Kendrick also flashed on the red carpet.

Kendrick wasn’t left out of the loop on the matter and even had a few words about the bold fashion decision:

I get the feeling that she was prepared to be the talk of the night fashion-wise, especially given her pre-show routine:

This isn’t the first time that Kendrick has made news for her fashion sense ( or her “interactions” with other female celebrities ) and it is unlikely to be the last. So while Pitch Perfect fans wait for news on the sequel at least they can take solace in Ms. Kendrick’s style.
