As a woman in control, Lena Dunham has had a role unlike most women in the film and television industry. Dunham has been rising in popularity over the past couple of years due to her hit HBO show and its many fans.

She continues to gain popularity for her show, and as a celebrity icon, but perhaps she does not want to be seen in front of the camera anymore. Lena Dunham has been incredibly busy with her work with Girls, and in addition to be the star and central character on the show, she also created, writes, and directs the show, which is currently in its third season.

Lena Dunham is spotlighted in a recent issue of Glamour Magazine, and in an interview she said “I don’t know if I’m going to want to act anymore. I’m always relieved on the days I don’t have to. I’d rather give parts to other women than be the woman having the parts.”

She also opens up about her relationship with guitarist Jack Antonoff in the interview, and talks about things such as fashion and how she would rather make a big deal out of a good haircut than wearing a bunch of makeup.

In addition to Girls, she has starred in a handful of films including This Is 40 and Tiny Furniture, an independent film that she both created and starred in.

The 27-year-old’s show Girls has been nominated for both Emmys and Golden Globe awards on multiple occasions, and she won multiple Golden Globes after the show’s first season.

In addition to her time in film and television, it was also announced recently that Lena Dunham would be authoring a series of Archie Comics. She has been a longtime fan of the series, and will get to add her own type of story to the comic strip.

Throughout Lena Dunham’s career, she has played characters similar to herself, and uses Girls almost to emulate her own life, citing several similarities with Hannah and herself. She was the most recent host of Saturday Night Live, and spoke to a crowd at the SXSW conference in Austin, Texas about how she is trying to change the role of women in Hollywood.
