Erin Andrews was under a lot of scrutiny last night during the two-hour premiere of Dancing with the Stars. Not only was the Fox Sports broadcaster venturing out into unknown territory in her gig as reality show co-host, but Brooke Burke-Charvet was let go not even one month ago. Fans of Brooke were going to be extra harsh on Andrews and fans of the show in general would be looking to see how Andrews handled her co-hosting duties.
By all accounts, Andrews did a nice job in her inaugural show last night, which kicked off Season 18. The 35-year-old former contestant and finalist immediately separated her style from Brooke’s. People Magazine TV Critic Tom Gliatto thought that Andrews looked comfortable in her new role. “Andrews talks with the flat, unhesitant delivery and slanginess of an experienced announcer, and she casually plants herself on the floor with a kind of no-nonsense strength. She is angular and even willowy, but her center of gravity appears to be unshakable. If you covered the Super Bowl, wouldn’t you be the same way? How would you survive otherwise?”
Of course, there was mixed reaction on Twitter. Some people liked Andrew’s delivery, while others did not. It seemed like the biggest complaint against Andrews was the tone of her voice.
Is Erin Andrews trying to cause problems with everyone on the show today? She's awkward to watch with the dancers' interview! #DWTS

While #DWTS' Erin Andrews is more crisp than Brooke she needs to ditch the in-your-face repertorial approach. Calm down.
