Erin Andrews came into something of an awkward situation when she took over the mic from Brooke Burke-Charvet on “Dancing With The Stars”; the former host found out she was being replaced just a few weeks before the start of the new season and says she was as shocked as anyone else when she got the news. However, that hasn’t stopped her from being a good sport to her replacement.

“She and Erin have exchanged phone calls and voicemail messages. Erin was very complimentary to Brooke. So, in the midst of a difficult situation, there’s a whole lot of maturity going on,” host Tom Bergeron said.

Burke-Charvet said on “Good Morning America” that the timing was the hardest part of the entire thing, since it was so close to the premiere date of the show.

“The only shocking thing about it, really, is the way that it went down. Finding out just several weeks before the premiere was a little bit tough, but I’m good. I’m happy,” she said.

“I agreed with Brooke that the timing could have been better,” Bergeron said. “We had drinks this week, as a matter of fact, and I gave her such props for how she handled it. She handled it with poise and humor and I was so impressed with that.”

Andrews got mostly good reviews for her first night of hosting, although some people took to Twitter with issues about her voice. However, the former ESPN reporter showed that she has the chops to make it as a good host, according to critics.
