It will probably come as a shock to most people who do not follow Idris Elba’s career incredibly closely, but he also operates as a musician, and will be appearing at the Glastonbury Festival in 2014.
Idris Elba is mostly known for his acting, and he was most recently seen in the Academy Award-nominated film Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom in the role of Nelson Mandela.
In a much different type of role, he will be making his debut at the 2014 Glastonbury Festival, which is located near Somerset, England. The music festival will take place this summer between, and last from June 27th to June 29th.
Joining several other big time music acts, Idris Elba will be DJing, as well as introducing fans to his skills as a rapper. The Glastonbury Festival is filled with plenty of musical acts that could give American festivals such as Bonnaroo a run for their money.
It has a huge lineup that includes acts such as The Black Keys, Arcade Fire, Robert Plant, Dolly Parton, and many more. Jack White will also be appearing, who has recently began a fresh start with a solo career, and will be releasing his second solo album in June.
Many more acts are still set to be announced, and there have even been rumors surrounding a possible appearance from Fleetwood Mac, who just announced a tour following the re-introduction of one of their founding members, Christine McVie.
Idris Elba said that he would be DJing at the festival during an interview with Spotify, and also said that despite his growing film career, spinning records is what gives him his biggest thrill. He has already performed at Ibiza Rocks, and Liverpool’s Creamfields.
