On April 29, the big question was answered: Who will star in J.J. Abrams’ new Star Wars flick?

Domhnall Gleeson for one. Joining him are British actors John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley (Mr. Selfridge), and Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings), American actors Adam Driver (HBO’s Girls) and Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), and Swedish actor Max von Sydow (The Exorcist), as well as the original stars of the film, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.

“We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII,” said Abrams. “It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”

Gleeson is no stranger to popular sequels. His breakout film role happened when he appeared as Bill Weasley in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 in 2010 than again in Part 2 in 2011.

The 30-year old Irish actor wasn’t sure at first if he even wanted the role of Weasley in Harry Potter, showing reluctance to act alongside his father, actor Brendan Gleeson, who plays Alator “MadEye” Moody in the series.

“I’d been very certain about not wanting to do the acting thing because of my father,” Gleeson told Broadway.com in 2006. “I thought I’d always have the father-son thing of ‘He got you the part.'”

However, before joining Harry Potter, Gleeson had already solidified his own talent, portraying Davey in The Lieutenant of Inishmore, written by playwright Martin McDonagh. The role earned him a Tony Award nomination in 2006.

Gleeson’s other film roles include True Grit, Anna Karenina, and the TV movie When Harvey Met Bob, in which he portrays Irish singer-songwriter Bob Geldof.

Star Wars: Episode VII will fly into theaters on December 18, 2015.
