Kelly Rowland has married her manager and boyfriend Tim Witherspoon in a private ceremony in Costa Rica. The two traveled to Costa Rica for a vacation, and it is unclear whether they planned to get married there before they left or not.
The ceremony was small and only a few close friends and family members were in attendance. One source who was in attendance described the wedding ceremony saying,
“It was a quick, simple ceremony — only around 30 people.”
Rowland may not haven given any details about the date of the wedding, but she had said on several occasions that she wanted her wedding to be small and private.
“I really plan on it being a very special day between me and my sweetheart,” Rowland said in February. “Whatever we do we just want it to be special and between he and I and just make it something that we both remember and just for us. It’s our gift to ourselves.”
The wedding may have seemed sudden and spur of the moment, but it seems like that’s the way the relationship works for the couple. When Rowland announced her engagement to Witherspoon, she described his proposal and seemed happy with the way he chose to do it.
“He asked me first on Skype,” Rowland said of the proposal. “And I was like, ‘We’re so far away from each other.’ But it was so late – I remember we were both just kinda like, honestly, just staring at each other. And he asked me, and it was just that simple to say yes. I was like, ‘I got my best friend to ride through life with.’ He really is my best friend.”
The couple have not confirmed the marriage, but it is likely they will do so when they return from Costa Rica.
