An actor most famous for playing a police officer has now found himself on the opposite side of the law.
Michael Jace was arrested late Monday night for the murder of his wife, April Jace. According to a TMZ report, police were called to the Jace’s home on Brynhurst Avenue in Los Angeles at around 8:30 pm after neighbors reported shots fired in the house. Jace himself also reportedly called police, confessing to dispatchers that he had shot his wife.
Jace was arrested when the LAPD arrived at the residence and was taken in for questioning. He has now been charged with murder in the shooting death of his wife.
Though few details of the shooting are available at this time, the LAPD has confirmed that the Jace’s have no history of domestic disputes in which the police were called to intervene. The TMZ report holds that Jace had been alone in the house when his wife and their two young children arrived home. April Jace was shot soon after, with their two children reportedly witnessing the crime.
Michael Jace is best known for his role as police detective Julien Lowe in the FX series The Shield. He also appeared in smaller roles in many other TV series throughout the 90s and 00s including Law & Order, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Chicago Hope, ER, NYPD Blue, Burn Notice, and Southland. Jace also appeared in several movies including Forrest Gump, Clear and Present Danger, The Fan, Boogie Nights, and The Replacements
Reports of Jace’s arrest began filtering onto social media late Monday night. Fans of The Shield have been using Twitter to express their shock and disbelief:
If I had to pick a murderer from the cast of The Shield, Michael Jace would've been low on the list. Sad story. Domestic Violence always is

HUGE The Shield fan. Sorry to see Michael Jace murdering his wife. That kind of behavior is frowned upon in polite society.
