Tori Spelling and husband Dean McDermott sat down with interviewer Brooke Anderson for the Lifetime channel’s True Tori: The Reunion, a follow-up episode to True Tori, a show that chronicled the star’s marriage, and recent drama.
McDermott famously admitted to cheating on the former Beverly Hills, 90210 alum with 28-year-old Emily Goodhand. He broke the news to Spelling while filming the show, for which the actress received much criticism.
Many wondered why the pair would air so much of their dirty laundry, and some even stated that the show was fake. Anderson addressed these issues, along with others, during the show last night.
When asked why she didn’t immediately leave McDermott after hearing of the affair, Spelling stated it was because of her family.
“People say you should leave him,” the star began. “There’s a family and there’s a love. We have four kids together. I’m also in love with him. I can’t go back and take away eight years. It felt important to at least try to work it out.”
However, Spelling did state that if she found out there were other women, she would leave her husband.
“If he says there are others, I feel like that makes my decision for me—I have to leave,” she told Anderson. She hasn’t asked yet, though, because she’s “afraid,” and her “heart wants to try to work this out.”
Which lead to the next question about the whole situation being a publicity stunt. Rumors even swirled that Goodhand doesn’t actually exist.
“I wish she didn’t exist,” Spelling said. “I wish it hadn’t happened. I don’t know who would fake something to have this happen to your life. I wouldn’t wish this upon anyone.”
I hate that I am watching the #TrueTori reunion special. But not enough to stop watching it.

The only thing that would have made this reunion, is if Emily Goodhand was interviewed exclusively. #truetori

Lifetime dubbed tonight's #TrueTori a "reunion," when it's really just Tori and Dean answering questions … mostly separately.

I feel sorry for Tori Spelling's children. They have to live with the legacy of their parent's desperation for fame. #TrueTori

Anderson also asked why the couple would choose to make their kids part of the show.
“I want them to watch this show when they’re adults,” Spelling responded. “We have fun. They have a good time. People have to know, if this at all bothered the kids, I wouldn’t be doing it. I’m proud of the woman I’ve become, and I want them to see that.”
Stay tuned as to whether McDermott admits to other extra-marital affairs and if Spelling sticks around if he does.
