Adam Levine may have once been known as a bad boy, however he seems to be softening up when it comes to his fiancé, Victoria’s Secret model Behati Prinsloo.

On Monday, Levine called in to Ryan Seacrest’s radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest, to discuss his band’s new song Maps. Along with the new hit, Levine also opened up about how he asked Prinsloo’s father for his permission and blessing before he asked her to marry him. Levine called the experience “extremely nerve-wracking.”

“I did ask his permission,” Levine told Seacrest. “I don’t want to talk about it, you know how I am, but yes, of course I did. I had to. And it was extremely nerve-wracking.”

Levine popped the question nearly a year ago in July 2013. The couple’s wedding is quickly approaching and is said to be taking place on July 19 at the Hotel El Ganzo in Los Cabos, Mexico.

Aside from planning a wedding, Adam has also been busy working on his upcoming album titled V. “Every time we release a single, it always feels like the first time,” Adam explained when Maps hit the airwaves. “I always get those butterflies.”

Adam described this album as his favorite one that Maroon 5 has done together. “It’s my favorite one that we’ve ever done,” Levine said. “I’m so excited about this album. Mostly because I think that what we always do with every record… it’s kind of everything we’ve ever done as a band musically.”

“It’s what we used to sound like, it’s what we sound like now, it’s what we want to sound like tomorrow,” he added. “It’s all those elements all combined to make one, I think, really great album.”
