Google is killing Quickoffice two years after acquiring it.

Google acquired the productivity software maker in June of 2012, then launched an iPad app later that year. Early last year, they put out the Android and iPhone versions, then made the service free to all users last fall, while giving away Google Drive storage.

In a recent post to the update feed from the Google Apps team, Google announced that QuickOffice will be removed from Google Play and the App Store:

With the integration of Quickoffice into the Google Docs, Sheets and Slides apps, the Quickoffice app will be unpublished from Google Play and the App Store in the coming weeks. Existing users with the app can continue to use it, but no features will be added and new users will not be able to install the app.

In other Google killing products news, the company announced on Monday that it is pulling the plug on Orkut, its original social network.
