Netflix’s new original series Grace and Frankie has reportedly added another big name.
The Hollywood Reporter says that the comedy has signed Law & Order and The Newsroom‘s Sam Waterston for a starring role. Waterston will play the gay husband of Frankie (Lily Tomlin), who is having an affair with Grace’s (Jane Fonda) husband.
Last month, we learned that role had gone to Martin Sheen.
Here’s Netflix’s official description of the show:
The single-camera comedy focuses on nemeses Grace (Fonda) and Frankie (Tomlin) facing the last chapter of their lives, though not in the way they expected. When their husbands announce they are in love with each other and plan to get married, the women find their lives both turned upside down and to their dismay, permanently intertwined Eventually, to their surprise, they find they have each other.
The Help‘s Tate Taylor had signed on to direct, his debut in the world of television directing. The show is written and created by Friends creator Marta Kauffman, and will air some time in 2015. The first season, like most Netflix originals, will consist of 13 episodes.
