Emma Watson may have risen to fame as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, but Watson is proving that she is more than just a good actress and a pretty face.
Watson recently graduated from Brown University and is ready to take on the world. She was recently chosen as a goodwill ambassador by the United Nations. Watson will promote the HeForShe campaign which calls for both boys and men to stand up for the inequalities that women face.
The United Nations released a statement about Watson on their website.
“We are thrilled and honoured to work with Emma, whom we believe embodies the values of UN Women” said Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka.
“The engagement of young people is critical for the advancement of gender equality in the 21st century and I am convinced that Emma’s intellect and passion will enable UN Women’s messages to reach the hearts and minds of young people globally” stressed Ms. Mlambo-Ngcuka.
According to the UN, The role of the Goodwill Ambassador is to promote the empowerment of young women and to serve as an advocate for UN Women’s HeForShe campaign in fostering gender equality. The campaign is a solidarity movement which brings women and men together to fight against gender inequalities faced by women and girls globally.

Watson has said that she really enjoys acting but feels like she has more to offer the world. Her new ambassador position will give her a chance to show everyone what she can do.
