The news about a possible spin-off for AMC’s hit television drama, Breaking Bad, has been circulating for a while now. In fact, the spin-off, centered around “criminal” lawyer Saul Goodman and titled Better Call Saul, is not only a done deal, it’s already been approved for a second season, before the first one even airs.

Breaking Bad fans expect that this show might have more of a comedic turn to it than the original drama, but the character of Saul Goodman, with his amoral approach to the justice and civil court systems, was such a hit that fans are willing to go with lighter fare just to taste a bit more of the blue crystal soaked world in Albuquerque that they loved for five seasons.

But the producers of Better Call Saul have made a few changes to the show’s concept, and say that fans could be in for some real surprises. While the show was initially planned to take place entirely before Saul Goodman met Walter White, producers now say the show’s timeline will be “flexible.” And that could allow for some great cameos.

“One of the great things about having a time line which is flexible is that perhaps some of it takes place before Breaking Bad, during Breaking Bad, and after Breaking Bad.” said executive producer Peter Gould. “That gives us the ability to bring back characters that were killed on Breaking Bad.”

Could that mean that fans might see Walter White, Skyler, Jesse, and other core cast members? Possibly. We do know that Jonathan Banks will be coming along to reprise his role as Mike Ehrmantraut.

Some other series regulars have said they are committed in other places and will not likely be coming along for Saul anytime soon, but that could change as the show gets developed.

Better Call Saul is slated to have 10 episodes in Spring 2015, and another 13 the following season.
