Sharknado and Sharknado 2 have brought Tara Reid back into the spotlight and she intends to stay there for as long as she can.

Reid recently created her own fragrance that she calls Shark and it will soon be available in stores.

While the name of the fragrance might be inspired by the Sharknado films, the scent isn’t.

According to Reid’s website, the fragrance is “a light and refreshing perfume perfect for day-to-day wear.”

Over the years Reid has tried her best to stay popular in Hollywood. Her career has faded and although Reid was once a teen movie star, she has now resorted to lower budget films.

After Reid starred in the first Sharknado movie she found herself back in the spotlight, which is something she didn’t expect.

She said that although the movie was successful, she was embarrassed by it at first.

“When I first did it, it was called Dark Skies, so I thought, ‘Okay, it’s not gonna sound so bad on my resume… it’ll be fine.’ And then, all of a sudden, they’re like, ‘We’re changing the name to Sharknado‘. I said, ‘Oh my God, this is it! My career is over’. I begged them to change the name. It was horrible. They said, ‘Trust us, it’ll work’,” she said.

She went on to say that because the movie was just a television movie, she didn’t think very many people would watch it or recognize her.

“When it came [out], I never told anyone about it,” she recalled. “I thought, ‘Okay, it’s on Syfy, no-one will ever see it’. When it became this phenomenon, I was like, ‘Are you joking me, is this really happening?'”

Sharknado was so popular that the network created a second film, Sharknado 2: The Second One, which aired on July 30.

The success of the films has allowed Reid to capitalize on the shark theme and she hopes her perfume will be as popular as the movies.
