Being a working mom can be hard and some women have a hard time multitasking or prioritizing between work and family.

Katherine Heigl claims that she found being a working mom too hard and that she chose to quit Grey’s Anatomy so she could spend more time with her children.

“I would come home angry and frustrated that I’d missed everything with my kid that day,” she says. “I didn’t get to wake her up from her nap, or do bath time or bedtime. I’d have to sneak into her room and kiss her when she was sleeping, hoping not to wake her up.”

Heigl said that she felt like she belonged at home with her kids and so she chose to leave the television show. Heigl has two daughters, both of whom were adopted.

She said that she is happy to have had such a successful career, but now she is ready to be a mother. She has stopped taking on long-term filming projects and said she might leave the film industry all together one day.

“We had big dreams of expanding our family, moving to the mountains and having a quieter life,” Heigl said.

Heigl is currently working on NBC’s State of Affairs but says that the role gives her enough time with her family and that she doesn’t feel guilty about leaving them for work.

Heigl is just one of the many celebrities who have set aside their careers to raise a family. Most of them return to filming eventually, but some leave and find happiness doing other things.
