Julia Roberts vs. Halle Berry: Best Bikini Bod?

Julia Roberts gets made fun of a lot for her facial structure. Some cruelly call her Horse Face or make fun of her wide, toothy smile. But Julia Roberts was Pretty Woman. She very believably landed Richard Gere in that film. Over the years she’s been paired with such leading men as Hugh Grant, Dennis Quaid, and George Clooney. Haters gonna hate.

But Julia Roberts admits to having doubts about her beauty.

“When I was younger, I’d think, ‘Oh, I’m the prettiest one,” she told InStyle magazine. “It’s not Halle Berry. It’s not!’ But it is, you know?”

Roberts says that she came to realize that her and Halle very have a different kind of beauty.

“I think I’ve always sort of been on the more boyish spectrum of girls. For example, I’ve never been chosen as ‘one of the top-five hottest actresses in a bikini.’ And honestly, it’s a godsend.”

Roberts used to have a more thrown-together look, not as concerned about glamorous gowns and fashion choices. She says that was fun for its time.

“I certainly think about it more now. It used to be a friend could call me at three in the afternoon and say, ‘I have a premiere tonight. Will you come?’ And I’d just take a shower and go. I wore a lot of vintage then. I had a navy military jacket and striped leggings I wore all the time. Those were the fun old days.”

She says some of what has changed is the attention celebs get from paparazzi and tabloids. “People were less judgmental, less searing in their assessment of what you dare wear to the drugstore.”

But, at the same time, he is embracing the stage of her life where she gets to have fun with design and fashion.

“The fun now is getting together with my friend and stylist Elizabeth Stewart, whom I adore,” Roberts said. “She brings such great ideas and choices to the table. When I know I’m seeing Elizabeth, I put on the most impeccable outfit. She’ll go, ‘This is great!’ And I’ll say, ‘I dressed just for you’.”

But, even now, she doesn’t want to become someone who is all consumed by what she wears.

“I just try to not take it so seriously. And it can be stressful on the red carpet. So it doesn’t matter how much you dress up or bejewel yourself, you’ve still got to feel like you.”
