Jay-Z and Beyonce have been tearing it up on their “On The Run” tour this year, and the show is coming to HBO next month after a taping in Paris.
The powerhouse couple have teamed up for the tour, which features lavish productions, choreographed numbers, and video clips of the duo in a Bonnie and Clyde-type scenario. And while rumors have flown around the web in recent months that their marriage is on the rocks, they still seem happy enough to share the most intimate moments of their lives with the audience, which includes showing clips of themselves on vacation and with their daughter, Blue Ivy.
The show features dozens of songs from both musicians and relies as much on Beyonce’s dancing as it does on her singing, as the tour has been filling up stadiums which need a good amount of movement on stage for full impact. However, a new ad for the upcoming HBO special is far simpler, with Beyonce taking the role of a sultry torch singer as Jay-Z looks on with a cigar. The song she chose? Nancy Sinatra’s hit “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)”, which found new life after Quentin Tarantino used it in his flick Kill Bill.
Rumors of an impending divorce have been circulating for some time, but were heightened in May after Beyonce’s sister Solange attacked Jay in an elevator after the Met Gala. The incident was captured on surveillance cameras and was leaked immediately afterward, setting off a firestorm of speculation.
While some say Solange was angry with her brother-in-law because he had been paying a little too much attention to designer Rachel Roy, the couple have not commented publicly on the incident.
