The Mega Millions jackpot has risen to $180 million after no one matched all six numbers during Tuesday night’s drawing.

The latest drawing took place on August 19. The winning numbers were 22, 39, 56, 67 and 71 with a Mega Ball number of 15, a Megaplier of 4, and a jackpot of $160 million.

Even though no one managed to seize the grand prize, several other people won smaller prizes. The jackpot is not the only way to win the Mega Millions. The second prize can be won by matching five numbers but not the Mega Ball. That is exactly what two people from New Jersey and South Carolina did. The payment for second prize is a flat $1 million before taxes.

Friday’s jackpot isn’t setting any records, but is the largest jackpot we have seen in five months. The last time that the jackpot was this high was when the jackpot rose to $414 million in March. If someone is lucky enough to match all six numbers on Friday, they will have the option of taking the one lump sum of $107 million.

Mega Millions tickets are sold in 43 states plus the District of Columbia and the U. S. Virgin Islands. Tickets cost $1 each, and drawings take place on Tuesday and Friday nights.
