Jim Parsons debunked some rumors surrounding the Big Bang Theory contract negotiations between CBS and his co-stars.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 41-year-old actor said rumors that the cast would leave the show if they didn’t get the money they wanted were a little exaggerated, saying he never planned to leave the show.
“I always thought everything would be worked out by the start date [July 30]. When it wasn’t, it certainly wasn’t a good feeling, but there was absolutely no getting around the fact that everything had to be dealt with and finished before we could get back,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “You see the word ‘strike’—’They’re walking out!’—but there was nothing to walk out from. That’s always hard, because part of you wants to explain to people what’s really going on. ‘Don’t worry, we’re not leaving, we want to do the show.’”

Parsons said people knowing all the details about the big bucks he’ll be making as part of the new contract — an unbelievable $1 million per episode— is a foreign concept to him.
“I came from a family in Texas who simply never spoke about money,” he said. “When suddenly everybody is guessing, or some even getting close, to the ballpark of what you’re earning—well, that’s interesting, that everyone knows what you make. It is what it is, and the job is so wonderful that those minor oddities are well worth the ride.”

Parsons also shared about once again being nominated for an Emmy. It’s not his first, but he says each nomination becomes more meaningful as time goes by.
“To be nominated again for Big Bang, is at least as touching to me, if not more so now, than it was the first time. Look, I’m only human and therefore there’s a part of me that’s waiting for people to say, ‘Enough of you!’”

There have been other rumors surrounding Parsons and his alleged engagement to his longtime boyfriend, Todd Spiewak. Parsons took care of that one in short order himself with a post on Instagram, along with the caption: “Me and Todd in 2003. Still very happy today… And NOT engaged! #justFYI #NationalEnquirerMakesS**tUp #duh.”
