Joan Rivers is being brought out of a medically induced coma over the next few days, but doctors are still worried about her condition. Rivers was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital last Thursday after suffering a heart attack on the operating room table. She was undergoing surgery on her vocal cords at the time.

Doctors have told Rivers’ family members that they are concerned that the heart attack could have caused some brain problems and aren’t sure if her motor skills will be the same and are also worried about reduced brain function.

Joan’s daughter Melissa has provided several updates on the condition of her mother, but has not said much since her mother was brought out of the coma.

On Friday Melissa released an update on her mother’s condition saying,

“Her condition remains serious, but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery.”

Rivers has always been open about her health and any procedures that she has had done.

In 2013, Joan allowed cameras to film her while she dealt with a health scare. Joan had went to the doctors with a persistent cough and X-rays showed a spot on her lungs that had her doctors worried.

In spite of the scare, Joan kept her sense of humor and said,

“We’re just not going to be sad about this. We’re gonna do jokes and be up until we know. That’s how I deal with things. I’m not just gonna sit around the next couple of days and go crazy.”

Joan has received a lot of support over the last few days from her friends, family members, fans and colleagues. Everyone is hoping that’ she will pull through and that her positive outlook and sense of humor will help her deal with any complications that may arise from the incident.
