Kate Gosselin and her brood of eight are returning to TV in TLC’s unofficial third season of Kate Plus 8. The new specials will air in December and will focus on the family’s vacation to New England and their preparations for a new school year.

According to recent reports, the children’s father Jon Gosselin is looking to get a percentage of their earnings from this new show. The new Kate Plus 8 specials will apparently pay $40,000 per episode and Jon Gosselin wants to get a cut from it, although he is not scheduled to appear in any of the shows.

The 36-year-old father of eight, whose recent jobs included waiting tables and doing I.T. work, is apparently considering blackmailing his former wife of ten years into paying up.

“Jon’s trying to get a percentage of Kate’s TLC salary for the new Kate Plus 8 specials,” according to a source. “He has no stable job, no steady income, and now he’s trying to tell Kate that if she doesn’t give him a cut of the money, he will claim the kids hate filming and they are being forced to do it.”

The reality TV mom is not going to let him have his way. “Kate has absolutely no intentions whatsoever of giving him any money. He doesn’t have any right to it anyways!” the source added.

In another interview earlier this year, her ex-husband claimed that Kate is exploiting her eight children to maintain an old lifestyle she can’t afford anymore.

Jon Gosselin reportedly said: “I don’t think being on TV is good for kids. A lot of them do not want to film and they come to me and tell me that. It’s upsetting and I think it’s embarrassing for them. They are enjoying having an ordinary childhood.”  Apparently, he thinks the exposure caused long term damage on the kids. “They shy away from cameras and I don’t think that is normal.”

His ex-wife however, maintains that the children are looking forward to being on TV again. She insists the exposure has not harmed them in anyway.
