Weight Loss: New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Disputes 85-Pound Report

Last February, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie underwent lap band surgery to address his weight problems. The procedure was done quietly, and Christie didn’t reveal it until about three months later, in May of 2013. Since then, it’s obvious that Christie has been losing some weight – but just how much weight has the possible presidential hopeful lost?

About 85 pounds, according to reports.

The New York Times says that Christie recently told conservative donors that he’s been able to get rid of 85 unwanted pounds since his lap band surgery last February.

“A doctor once told me you have to have the right relationship with the food you eat. And believe me, for many years, I had a great relationship with the foods I ate,” he reportedly told the crowd.

But wait – a denial appears.

Christie told ABC News that the NYT report was inaccurate, claiming that he doesn’t talk about his weight loss numbers.

“First off, I don’t talk about numbers and so the report in the New York Times was I can tell you this much it wasn’t accurate, but I’m not going to tell you why it wasn’t accurate,” Christie said. “I don’t talk about that stuff and the reason I don’t is because that’s my business and not anybody else’s.”

He did acknowledge that he is getting into better shape, but denied it has anything to do with a possible presidential run.

“I got elected to office at my previous size and it didn’t seem to bother the voters of New Jersey twice so the people who say it’s about politics are just wrong, it’s about living a healthier life and being healthier and being able to stay around longer.”

About that whole president thing…

“I’m thinking about it…It is an enormous decision to make not only for me, but my family…probably by the end of this year or the beginning of next I’ll decide,” Christie said at a recent town hall.
