Amanda Bynes has been placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold after posting a series of disturbing tweets and displaying bizarre behavior while in New York.
Tamar Arminak, Bynes’ family lawyer, confirmed the news to Reuters saying that she was hospitalized upon arriving in Los Angeles. Bynes reportedly believed that she was being driven to an appointment at her lawyer’s office, however she was taken to a Pasadena treatment center.
Bynes’ parents, Lynn and Rick Bynes, chose to have their daughter placed under the hold after she wrote a series of tweets accusing her father of sexual abuse. She later retracted the tweets and blamed it on a microchip that her father had put in her head. Under California law, Bynes can be held up to 72 hours for observation.
On October 10 Bynes wrote, “I need to tell the truth about my dad. I will not be manipulated or brainwashed by anyone anymore. So let me live my own life free of unhappiness and misery. So call me what you want but please do not call me crazy or insane because that’s a joke.”
She later added the story about the microchip. “My dad never did any of those things. The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he’s the one that ordered them to microchip me,” she tweeted.
