Authorities are starting an investigation after a Florida woman’s body was found in her recently deceased daughter’s backyard in Fowler, Indiana.

According to WLFI-TV, the body belonged to 68-year-old Nena Metoyer of Dunedin, Florida.

Metoyer was reported missing on September 24, just one day before her daughter, 49-year-old Teresa Jarding, died from natural causes at a hospital in Lafayette. Metoyer had traveled to Fowler in early August to care for Jarding, who had unknown medical issues. Family members said that they hadn’t spoken to Metoyer for two weeks before they decided to file a missing persons case. Police found her car outside of Jarding’s home, but did not know where she was.

The discovery was made on Saturday, October 11 after authorities made the decision to search the property. While not many details are being released, neighbors told the news site that they saw detectives combing through the backyard for hours.

More details will be shared as they become available.
