Apollo Nida is behind bars for the next eight years, and his wife Phaedra Parks is filing for divorce.
According to CNN, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star’s representative released a statement about her intent to move forward with divorce proceedings. She has reportedly “retained an attorney with the intent of amicably ending her marriage.”
An inside source close to the high powered attorney also spoke with People magazine about her feelings toward their split. “Phaedra is really disappointed with how all of this has turned out,” the source revealed.
The source also touched on Apollo’s legal woes where Phaedra is concerned. “[Phaedra] had no idea any of that [illegal activity] was going on.”
Several media outlets reported their marriage was on the rocks long before Apollo was indicted back in January. His legal woes only added to their marital problems. The source shed light on some of the issues they faced throughout their marriage.
“This divorce is going to be the best thing for her,” the source said. “Apollo was always really jealous of her success and the fact that she was the breadwinner.”
Although Apollo reportedly felt some type of way about his wife’s substantial income, Phaedra’s main concern has always been their children.
“The really sad part is their two little boys having to go through all of this,” the source continued. “She knows she will be better off without him,” the source said. “She’s a strong woman and a great mom and really adores her boys.”
Following Apollo’s sentencing, Phaedra’s attorney released a similar statement about where her focus lies.
“Phaedra is now putting all of her energy into ensuring the well-being of her two children and making decisions that are in their best interests,” the statement said. “This situation has put a tremendous strain on Phaedra and her family, and she is working hard to bring back a sense of normalcy to everyone’s lives.”
