Kate Gosselin is reportedly being paid a hefty salary for her reality series Kate Plus 8.
However, the alleged $40K she’s making per episode may still not be enough to support eight children.
Following her estranged ex-husband Jon’s eviction, she announced her upcoming garage sale.
While the yard sale doesn’t necessarily mean Kate is in dire straits, several media outlets are speculating since Jon is having financial issues.
For those who missed it, the father of eight was evicted from his $299,000 rental home. Last week, a source close to Jon confirmed the news with E!
“It’s true. The eviction happened last week. He could no longer afford the rent. He has moved out and is already in a new place in the same neighborhood,” the source told E! News. “The job at the credit card company he was working for didn’t pan out. The anticipated income wasn’t there and the situation deteriorated.”
The 39-year-old reality star recently spoke with Y102 about the upcoming yard sale, which is scheduled for Oct. 25. The announcement reads,
“The Gosselins will be there selling their unwanted/no longer needed items clogging up their house. Clothing, toys, books appliances, car/booster seats, furniture and more! A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Local Animal Rescue League.”
All of the speculation comes as a result of the criticism Kate has received in the past for profiting from gifts previously given to her eight children, reports In Touch Weekly.
Back in June, she defended her actions by arguing how difficult it can be to raise eight children. However, she didn’t confirm or deny the rumors about her financial status.
“Hear me very clearly, if there was another way to singly support eight children, you would not know this name and I would be on an island, and so would they. You would never hear from us again,” Kate said.
Is Kate Gosselin desperate for money, or just trying to rid her house of unwanted junk? Only time will tell!
