Brittney Wood went missing the night of May 30, 2012 and investigators have been working to find the teen ever since. Wood was last seen with her uncle Donnie Holland who has long been a suspect in the case.

Holland was already being investigated for several sex crimes and killed himself just a few days after Brittney went missing.

Police have continued to investigate the case and have found startling evidence of a huge sex ring that involved children, adults and even incest.

Eight of Brittney’s relatives are believed to have been involved with the group, including Holland, who was likely the leader.

The police now believe that Brittney was a victim as well and was likely murdered because she knew too much or had threatened to go to the police with information about the group.

“Brittney could have been huge,” said prosecutor Teresa Heinz to the New York Post. “She could have corroborated so many things.”

Brittney’s own mother and brother have been accused of abusing children and although Brittney’s mother Chessie claims she is innocent, she did admit that many of her family members were guilty of such crimes.

“There are innocent people in this and there are guilty people in this,” Chessie, said in an interview with Fox News. “I don’t know how the judicial system is going to figure it all out because they’re not the sharpest tools in the shed.”

Chessie has been accused of having sex with a minor, female relative but claims she did not know anything about the group until after her daughter went missing.

Although the police believe that Brittany is likely dead, her mother said that the number one priority of the police should be to find her daughter and their second priority should be to get the guilty members of the sex ring off of the streets.

Prosecutors have found that there were numerous complaints of child and sexual abuse against many of the group members over the past six years. Child welfare workers do not appear to have investigated the complaints, leaving prosecutors and many others to wonder if Brittney’s disappearance and the abuse of the other children involved in the sex ring could have been prevented.

Investigators are still investigating Brittney’s disappearance and are expecting to find more victims of the sex ring during their investigation.
