Alan Robertson, the “beardless” Robertson sometimes seen on Duck Dynasty, is hard at work proving that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree stand.
Alan’s dad, Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson, has made no secret about his disdain for gay people.
“We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job,” the elder Robertson famously told GQ. ”We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus—whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort ’em out later, you see what I’m saying?”
If lumping homosexuals in with drunks and terrorists is “loving them,” gay people would hate to see what this guy says about people he admits to hate.
So when son Alan spoke with Tony Perkins on “Washington Watch” about the recent scandal over pastor subpoenas in Houston, Texas, it was interesting to see where the beardless one would go.
First came his comparison of the United States to Nazi Germany.
“You know, Al, you and your family have experienced this attack on your faith, simply for standing up and saying what you believe,” Perkins said. “You’ve gone through the storm. But the storm continues. I mean, people would rather you be quiet and not use your platform to talk about the fact that there is truth.”
Alan again claimed that the Robertsons’ statements about gay people are because they love them.
“They’ll label you, Tony. I continue to get this label, myself and Dad more than me, these “people full of hate.” And what’s so sad is, it is a complete 180 of truth. We are completely filled with love for folks, which is why we continue to tell the truth,” Alan said, “who God is, and what he wants from us as a people.”
Alan went on to talk about the need to not be silent on matters such as homosexuality, saying, “I can guarantee you the Evil One is not silent in his assault.”
