Brett Michaels has been dealing with health problems for a while now, but earlier this week he was rushed to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery on his kidneys.
Michaels has battled diabetes almost all of his life and has been pretty open with his struggles in hopes of encouraging and helping others suffering from the disease.
Although Brett never tries to hide the fact that he has diabetes, he also doesn’t complain about it or let it stop him from performing and staying on the road.
Brett’s recent health scare caused him to have to postpone several performances and is keeping him in the hospital for a while.

His friend Pete Evick released a statement to Brett’s fans on Brett’s website and explained that the recent kidney problems were caused by previous medical and health issues, including his brain hemorrhage and appendicitis.
“Over the last two weeks Bret was in and out of 6 hospitals throughout the Midwest. Including the incredible Mercy Hospital of Northwest Arkansas. The staff and doctors were unbelievable and took incredible care of Bret. The fans and venues have been amazing and their support unprecedented. Bret continues to be steadfast in his dedication to bring the music to the people. He truly has to be held down to not perform. While the last few weeks have been tragic, Bret continues to be an inspiration in his ability to push on. He’s still not 100 percent, but there are no plans to postpone or reschedule any more shows this year. While he was in dire pain, he still played an amazing show to an enormous crowd in Vegas a few days ago. We will see you guys this weekend in Florida,” the statement said.

Brett is hoping to be well enough to perform in Florida on Thursday, but his doctors may not release him if they do not think he will follow their orders and rest.
Hopefully Brett can recover quickly so he feels better and can get back to doing what he loves.
