Rumer Willis has grown up in one of the more interesting family arrangements you can imagine. Here parents were a celebrity couple, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis. They were on the cover of tabloids nearly as much as Brad and Angelina for a while. Then they had kids and everything quieted down.

When Rumer was still young, she was in two films alongside her famous mom — Now and Then in 1995, and Striptease in 1996. She has also been in two films with dad Bruce Willis — The Whole Nine Yards in 2000, and Hostage in 2005.

When Bruce and Demi split the tabloid fires raged again. People wondered what would become of poor Rumer.

But both parents frustrated the gossip pages by staying civil. They both moved on to other relationships, but always supported each other and their kids. It was frustratingly tame for rumor-mill devotees.

Demi Moore married Ashton Kutcher, who is 15 years younger than her. That put him right between Moore and Rumer, age-wise. But again, things seemed to go very well. Rumer recently talked with Access Hollywood about how well things actually went with that seemingly-strange arrangement.

“They were just hanging out… my mom has always made how [my sisters and I] feel about situations the most important thing. I think it was more, her going, ‘Hey, this is my life and these are my kids and my priorities. So if you want to come and kind of join our crazy clan, this is what I already have kind of built.’ Which I find so amazing and respectful… It’s one of the things that I admire most about my [parents], is that they set such an incredible example for kind of putting their children first and keeping a family together, no matter what.”

Again, Bruce Willis showed up for the Demi/Ashton wedding, and everybody got along.

But then Demi and Ashton split after eight years. Ashton is now engaged to actress and former That 70’s Show co-star Mila Kunis. And they just had a baby they named Wyatt. How is all that going over with Rumer?

“I reached out to him when he [and Mila Kunis] had the baby, which is so awesome. I saw photos of her. She’s very cute… I realized the other day, he was a year younger than me when he and my mom started going out. It would be like me meeting someone who already had three teenage kids, kind of going into that situation was crazy.”

Maybe the whole Demi-Bruce-Ashton-Mila-and-kids thing isn’t as big a deal as everyone makes it. Blended families happen and work every day. These people just do it with cameras flashing in their faces.
