Gwen Stefani has had a long relationship with Pharrell Williams, and the duo recently unveiled their latest collaboration, which is racking up views on Vevo.
The No Doubt singer will soon be releasing her first solo album in eight years–which has no title or release date as yet–and has already dropped a couple of songs for her rabid fans. The latest video is a trippy, half-animated visual delight, which features the singer in a cartoon world along with Williams.
The duo have been working together on The Voice, and Stefani has also been working on a new album with her band. The mom of three said recently that as difficult as it is to balance all that–plus her fashion line, L.A.M.B.–she loves to work.
“At this point I’m thinking about both, I can do both. And it’s just an amazing time; so many opportunities. I’m going into the studio tonight with Pharrell [Williams], I’m going to be writing and also just seeing what comes along my way. I’ve been recording a few things,” she told MTV.
The latest song, “Spark The Fire”, marks something of a departure for the singer as she transitions into dance club beats with a rap, querying “Who’s got the lighter?” over and over. There’s also a note of girl power in the tune, as Stefani sings, “Let’s go hard/ let’s go hard/ hard as can go/ It is time for the girl species to grow/ 2015 we take off our shells…the world get ready cause we will prevail/ somebody has to so maybe it’s me.”
