Facebook: Mobile Like Button Is Doing Well For Apps

At its f8 developer conference back in April, Facebook announced the mobile like button for apps, enabling people to like in-app content with a tap. Today, Facebook provided an update on its usage.

The button was available for iOS initially, and then launched for Android in October.

According to Facebook, lyrics catalog site MusiXmatch saw a 10x increase in Page Likes and 3x increase in engagement on their Facebook Page from the mobile like button. More Likes generated higher engagement leading to increased word-of-mouth growth via Shares, the company says.

Running and fitness tracking tool Runtastic doubled its growth rate of new Facebook Page fans and increased their fan base by 15k — 61% of which was directly linked to the mobile Like Button, according to the company.

While these are just two specific examples, they are admittedly impressive stats. It’s not really all that surprising that the button would help increase engagement, and there’s not a lot of downside to using it, as far as I can tell.
