It appears that Netflix is using a new tactic to remind people of its upcoming content.

As you may know, the company will debut its newest show Marco Polo on December 12. The official Twitter account for the show has a pinned tweet with a “Tweet me a Reminder” button, so you can be sure not to forget about the show’s debut.

Netflix told TheNextWeb:

The reminder will come in as an @Reply from the @MarcoPoloMP Twitter account, directed at each user who has opted in, as soon as the episodes are available at 12:01AM Pacific time on December 12, and will include a custom video message from the cast.

I’d imagine we’ll start seeing this on accounts for additional shows, and possibly on tweets about content from Netflix’s main accounts. We’ll see. Either way, it’s a handy addition to Netflix’s emails and push notifications for content it thinks you’ll want to be reminded about. At least this one is opt in.

Marco Polo’s description is as follows:

Intrigue. Deception. Bloodshed. These are just some of the obstacles awaiting legendary explorer Marco Polo as he navigates the inner court of 13th century ruler, Kublai Khan. From the back alleys of Venice to the perilous Silk Road, from the opulence of the Imperial City to the battlefields of China, Marco Polo is an epic action-adventure, where cultures clash, blood is spilled, and lies are told…

Here’s a look at the trailer.
